Just as Huckabee said recently, had Reagan been a candidate today, he’d have a hard time getting elected. This positions by Reagan from when he was President further cements that truth.

Lets just repeat that for emphasis: Ronald Reagan: “ Denigration of the full faith and credit of the United States would have substantial effects on the domestic financial markets and the value of the dollar.”

Back in the days when some Republicans were sane, responsible people

Let’s not conflate stating a single, rather self-evident economic truth - likely parroted by Reagan on the advice of others - with hyperbolic nostalgia about the 1980s GOP.

Reagan was correct about this - full stop.
